Fiber board characterization using polypropylene grafted maleic anhydrous with variation of Areca nut bark fiber mass as filler was carried out. This research was occurred in three step that consist alkalization, polypropulene functionalization with maleic anhydride, and the moulding process of fiber board. The PP-g-MA was characterized by degree of grafting, melting point and FT-IR analysys. The PP-g-MA formed has 9,506% degree of grafting, 162,06'C melting point. Physical and mechanical analysis for fiber board based on SNI 03-4449-2006 included density,water content, swelling, modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and morphological analysis of fiber board with using SEM. The result of mechanical analysis of V specimen which consisted areca nut bark fiber : PP : PP-gMA : BPO : DVB ( 50 : 40 :20 : 2 : 10 ) was a fiber board with optimum results, which all of physical properties value totally match with particle boards quality standard, with the value of MoE was 35002,01 KgF/cm2 and the value of MoR was 186,67 KgF/cm2. This result showed that the mass of areca fiber can improve the physical and mechanical properties of fiber board. SEM analysis showed that there is a strengthening of fiber to the fiber board.
