dc.description.abstractNursing care in a hospital is a determining factor of service quality of that hospital. The management of Sarah Hospital that is attempting to improve its nurses’ performance believes that nursing care will be successful if they have high motivation to do their job which is supported by the capacity of the management in managing nursing care. The objective of the research was to prove and to analyze the influence of leadership and motivation on nurses’ performance at Sarah Hospital, Medan. The samples were 71 nurses at Sarah Hospital, Medan, as the respondents. The data were gathered by using questionnaires and analyzed statistically by using multiple logistic regression analysis at α = 5%. The result of the research showed that the variables of leadership (skill in using position, capacity in solving problems effectively, firmness of attitude and commitment in making decision, capacity to be the media in settling conflict in performance, and skill in communication and advocacy) and the variables of motivation (liability, achievement, recognition of performance, possibility for development, advancement, salary, working condition, labor relations, work procedure, and status) influenced nurses’ performance at Sarah Hospital, Medan. Leadership had the most dominant influence on nurses’ performance (OR = 10.081). It is recommended that the hospital management improve its nurses’ performance by improving the factors of leadership and motivation and by providing education and training for developing nurses’ capacity. Besides that, nurses themselves should develop their performance by increasing their understanding of the guideline in nursing care.en_US
dc.description.abstractPelayanan keperawatan di rumah sakit merupakan suatu faktor penentu bagi mutu pelayanan rumah sakit. Rumah Sakit Sarah Medan berupaya untuk meningkatkan kinerja perawat dengan melalui pengelolaan asuhan keperawatan akan berhasil apabila seorang perawat memiliki motivasi yang tinggi dalam bekerja serta didukung kemampuan pimpinan dalam mengelola pelayanan keperawatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan, membuktikan dan menganalisis pengaruh kepemimpinan dan motivasi terhadap kinerja perawat di Rumah Sakit Sarah Medan dilakukan terhadap 71 orang perawat di Rumah Sakit Sarah Medan sebagai sampel. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner dan dianalisis secara statistik mengunakan uji regresi logistic ganda pada α = 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variabel kepemimpinan (kepiawaian dalam menggunakan posisi, kemampuan dalam memecahkan masalah secara efektif, ketegasan sikap dan komitmen dalam pengambilan keputusan, kemampuan menjadi media dalam penyelesaian konflik kinerja dan mempunyai keterampilan dalam komunikasi dan advokasi) dan motivasi (tanggung jawab, prestasi yang diraih, pengakuan hasil kerja, kemungkinan pengembangan, kemajuan, gaji, kondisi kerja, hubungan kerja, prosedur kerja dan status). berpengaruh terhadap kinerja perawat di Rumah Sakit Sarah Medan. Kepemimpinan merupakan variabel yang paling besar pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja perawat (OR = 10,081). Disarankan kepada Rumah Sakit Sarah Medan melakukan upaya untuk meningkatkan kinerja perawat melalui peningkatan faktor kepemimpinan dan motivasi motivasi dengan memberikan edukasi dam pembelajaran untuk pengembangan kemampuan perawat. Perawat perlu mengembangkan diri melalui peningkatan pemahamanan tentang pedoman asuhan keperawatan.en_US
