Claustrophobia (excessive fear of narrow and closed spaces) is a specific type of phobia that is commonly suffered by people. The implementation of exposure therapy in the treatment of claustrophobia has been proven to reduce and even cure the symptoms of claustrophobia. However, to take advantage of exposure therapy the therapist needs to provide a sufficiently large area and funds. This is caused by the causes and the level of fear of each individual can be different from one another. The implementation of virtual reality in exposure therapy can be a solution so that the application of exposure therapy becomes more maximal. Virtual reality developed in this study is supported by maximum interaction. The virtual environment is built realistically and patients of claustrophobia as users are able to interact with the environment actively, such as moving places and moving objects. The VR Tunneling method is applied to reduce the symptoms of motion sickness. Test results via interviews show that the VR Tunneling method correctly reduces motion sickness and the results of testing with IPQ (Igroup Presence Questionnaire indicate success rate of realism by 63.29%, success rate of spatial presence by 75.09% and success rate of involvement by 71%.
