Uji Persilangan Jagung Hitam (Zea mays L. var. black aztec) dan Jagung Manis (Zea mays L. var. saccharata)

Abstract

Bahrul Aruan (140301151) dengan judul penelitian “Uji Persilangan Jagung Hitam (Zea mays L. var. black aztec) dan Jagung Manis (Zea mays L. var. saccharata). Penelitian ini dibimbing oleh Ibu Dr. Diana Sofiah Hanafiah S.P., M.P sebagai ketua komisi pembimbing dan Ibu Ir. Eva Sartini Bayu, M.P sebagai anggota komisi pembimbing. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hasil persilangan jagung hitam (Zea mays L. var. black aztec) dan jagung manis (Zea mays L. var. saccharata). Penelitian ini akan dilaksanakan di areal percobaan rumah kasa Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan dengan ketinggian ± 32 mdpl. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober 2019 sampai Januari 2020. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah single cross, yaitu dengan menanam semua galur dalam alur di lingkungan pertanaman yang sama tanpa ulangan. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji-t dan uji chi square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase keberhasilan persilangan jagung manis dan jagung hitam adalah 100%. Faktor kualitatif yang mempengaruhi persilangan yaitu bentuk biji hasil persilangan berbentuk membulat, sedangkan warna biji hasil persilangan dominan berwarna kuning. Faktor kuantitatif yang mempengaruhi persilangan yaitu terdapat perbedaan yang nyata hasil persilangan pada parameter berat 100 biji dan jumlah susunan baris biji. Namun, tidak terdapat perbedaan yang nyata pada parameter panjang tongkol tanpa biji, diameter tongkol tanpa biji, dan berat tongkol.

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of crossing black corn (Zea mays L. var. Black aztec) and sweet corn (Zea mays L. var. Saccharata). This research will be carried out in the experimental area of the screen house, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan with an altitude of ± 32 masl. This research was conducted from October 2019 to January 2020. The experimental design used was single cross, that is, by planting all lines in a groove in the same planting environment without replication. Data analysis was performed using t-test and chi square test. The results showed that the percentage of success in crossing sweet corn and black corn was 100%. The qualitative factor that affects the cross is the shape of the seeds resulting from the cross is rounded, while the color of the seeds from the dominant cross is yellow. The quantitative factor that affects crosses is that there is a significant difference in the results of the crosses on the weight parameters of 100 seeds and the number of row rows of seeds. However, there was no significant difference in the parameters of earless ear length, earless ear diameter, and ear weight.
