In developing countries like Indonesia, the treatment of infections is still a major problem in the health sector. One infectious disease that often occurs and not rarely followed by death is a respiratory infection. One of the respiratory infection is pneumonia. Pneumonia is an infectious disease with high morbidity and mortality (death) even in the era of modern antibiotics today. Drug related problems (DRPs) are an unexpected event from the patient's experience due to drug therapy that can interfere with the success of therapy. Pneumonia is the biggest cause of death, especially in developing countries including Indonesia. In Indonesia, the incidence of this disease are around 5-35% with death reached 20- 50%. The high incidence of pneumonia and its effects has resulted in high consumption of drugs including antibiotics. The purpose of this study was to analyze DRPs with untreated indications chategory, drugs given without indications, occurrence of side effects, and drug interactions that occurred in Pneumonia patients in installation of Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Medan for the period of January 2017 - November 2017, this study used descriptive method and retrospective data retrieval of medical records. Data had taken from medical records of all patients in installation of Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Medan in the period of January 2017 - November 2017. Data were analyzed based on Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) v 8.01 and WHO Guideline for Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention and Control for Pneumonia. Based on the research that has been done, that out of 54 patients there were 24 patients (44.44%) who experienced the incidence of DRPs in Pneumonia patients in installation of Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Medan. DRPs events include: indications of untreated as many as 4 cases (13.79%), drugs given without indication as many as 8 cases (34.48%), the incidence of side effects on drug use as many as 9 cases (41.37%) and there were 3 drug interactions cases (10.34%). This study proves that the number of DRPs in Pneumonia patients in installation of Dr.Pirngadi Hospital Medan in the period of January 2017 - November 2017 was still high.en_US
Data dianalisis berdasarkan Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) v 8.01 dan WHO Guideline for Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention and Control for Pneumonia.
