dc.description.abstractBackground: Coffee grounds are residues obtained during brewing coffee process. It have nutritious ingredients such as caffeine, chlorogenic acids and have good scrub grains texture to remove dead skin cells, smooth, and moisturize the skin so it can be used as clay mask. Clay mask is a wash off type cosmetic facial skin care preparation that is practical to use. Purpose: The aim of this research is to formulate and test the effectiveness of clay mask from coffee grounds (Coffea arabica L.) Method: Research methods include processing of coffee grounds, drying and sieving with mesh sieve 40. The result of the coffee grounds that had been sifted are formulated as clay mask formulation with coffee grounds concentration 5% (FI); 10% (FII), 15% (FIII) and without using coffee grounds (blank). Evaluation of clay mask preparation includes evaluation of physical quality of preparations, homogeneity test, stability test for 12 weeks storage (odor, color, pH and consistency), test of drying time. Irritation test for volunteer skin and effectivity test (moisture content, evenness, pore, spot) of coffee grounds (Coffea arabica L.) clay mask done to 12 volunteers every week once after use clay mask for 4 weeks. Test the effectivity of clay mask using skin analyzer tool. Test result data were analyzed statistically by Shapiro Wilk Test method and continued with Kruskal Wallis Test method. Result: The results showed that all clay mask preparations were in paste form, brown to dark brown, smelled distinctive, homogeneous, stable during 12 weeks storage at room temperature (20±5 ° C), pH value (5.5-6.5) and drying time (13- 26 minutes), did not irritate volunteers. The results of effectivity test of coffee grounds (Coffea arabica L.) clay mask with 15% concentration give better result that can increase moisture content (14.9%) and evenness (22.4%) decreased pore size (24%) and spot (32.2%) compared to blank, 5% and 10% concentration coffee grounds. The results of statistical tests showed a significant difference in the water content between formulas. Conclusion: Based on the research concluded coffee grounds can be formulated as clay mask preparation and stable at 12 weeks storage, 15% coffee clay mask has better effectivity compared with blank, 5% and 10% concentration.en_US
dc.description.abstractLatar belakang: Ampas kopi adalah residu yang diperoleh selama proses penyeduhan kopi. Ampas kopi memiliki kandungan berkhasiat seperti kafein, asam klorogenik, dengan tekstur butiran scrub yang baik untuk mengangkat sel sel kulit mati, menghaluskan, dan melembapkan kulit sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai masker clay. Masker clay adalah sediaan kosmetik perawatan kulit wajah tipe wash off yang praktis digunakan. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian adalah formulasi dan uji efektivitas masker clay dari ampas kopi (Coffea arabica L.) Metode: Metode penelitian meliputi pengolahan ampas kopi, pengeringan dan pengayakan dengan ayakan mesh 40. Hasil ampas kopi yang telah diayak diformulasi sebagai masker clay dengan konsentrasi ampas kopi 5% (FI); 10% (FII), 15% (FIII) dan tanpa menggunakan ampas kopi (blanko). Evaluasi sediaan masker clay meliputi evaluasi mutu fisik sediaan, uji homogenitas, uji stabilitas selama 12 minggu penyimpanan (bau, warna, pH dan konsistensi), uji waktu sediaan mengering. Uji iritasi terhadap kulit dari sukarelawan dan uji efektivitas ( kadar air, kehalusan, pori, noda) sediaan masker clay ampas kopi (Coffea arabica L.) dilakukan terhadap 12 orang sukarelawan setiap minggu 1 kali sesudah pemakaian selama 4 minggu. Uji efektivitas masker clay menggunakan alat skin analyzer. Data hasil uji dianalisis secara statistik dengan metode Shapiro-Wilk Test dilanjutkan dengan metode Kruskal Wallis Test. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua sediaan masker clay berbentuk pasta, berwarna coklat muda hingga coklat tua, berbau khas, homogen, stabil selama penyimpanan 12 minggu pada suhu kamar (20±5°C), nilai pH (5,5-6,5) dan lama waktu pengeringan (13-26 menit), tidak mengiritasi sukarelawan. Hasil pengujian efektivitas sediaan masker clay ampas kopi (Coffea arabica L.) dengan konsentrasi 15% memberikan hasil yang lebih baik yaitu dapat meningkatkan kadar air (14,9%) menambah kehalusan (22,4%) menurunkan ukuran pori ( 24%) dan menurunkan jumlah noda (32,2%) dibandingkan dengan blanko, ampas kopi konsentrasi 5% dan 10%. Hasil uji data secara statistik menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan pada kadar air antar formula. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan penelitian disimpulkan ampas kopi dapat diformulasikan sebagai sediaan masker clay dan stabil pada penyimpanan 12 minggu, masker clay ampas kopi 15% memiliki efektivitas yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi 5%; 10% dan blanko.en_US
