    Karakterisasi dan Pembuatan Keramik Berpori Berbahan Dasar Tanah Lempung dan Abu Kayu Damar (Agathis Dammara)

    Abstract
    Fabrication of porous ceramics base on loam and wood damar ash, had been done using die pressing methode. Loam and damar wood ash with 100 mesh size sieve. Ceramic molded with varied composition ratio of loam and wood damar ash 10:0; 90:1; 8:2; 7:3; 6:4; 5:5 gram and sintered with 10000 C sintering temperatur with holding time 5 hour. Ceramics characterized to determine physical properties (density, porosity, water absorption, mass shrinkage, volume shrinkage), mechanical properties (compressive strength and hardness), surface morphology and pore size (SEM), elemental mapping (EDX). Results of characterization show that the best variation occurs on loam and wood damar ash composition 5:5 gram with density value = 1.4 gram/cm3; porosity = 44%; water absorption = 31.8%; mass shrinkage 30,32%; volume shrinkage = 6.93%; compressive strength = 1.95 MPa; hardness = 86.07 MPa. And surface morphology (SEM) has more pores and is spread evenly with average pore diameter = 2,3805 μm which is classified into the type macroporous ceramic with pore size > 50 nm.
     
    Telah dibuat keramik berpori berbahan dasar tanah lempung dan abu kayu damar dengan teknik die pressing. Tanah lempung dan abu kayu damar diayak dengan ayakan 100 mesh. Keramik dicetak dengan perbandingan variasi campuran tanah lempung dan abu kayu damar 10:0 ; 9:1 ; 8:2 ; 7:3 ;6:4 ; 5:5 gram dan disintering dengan suhu sintering 10000C dengan holding time 5 jam. Keramik dikarakterisasi dengan menentukan sifat fisis (densitas, porositas, serapan air, susut massa, susut bakar), sifat mekanis (kuat tekan dan kekerasan), morfologi permukaan dan ukuran pori (SEM), kandungan unsur (EDX). Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa variasi terbaik terjadi pada campuran tanah lempung dan abu kayu damar pada variasi campuran 5:5 gram dengan nilai densitas = 1,4 gram/cm3 ; porositas = 44% ; serapan air = 31,8% ; susut massa 30,32% ; susut bakar 6,93% ; kuat tekan = 1,95 MPa ; kekerasan = 86,07 MPa dan hasil morfologi permukaan (SEM) memiliki pori yang lebih banyak dan tersebar merata dengan ukuran diameter pori rata-rata = 2,3805 μm yang tergolong kedalam jenis keramik berpori macroporous ceramic dengan ukuran pori > 50 nm.
