Introduction
The quality of sleep of children with epilepsy can be disrupted due to unresolved seizures and psychological disorders that will ultimately affect his emotions. One of the instruments for assessing sleep quality in children with epilepsy is the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ) and emotional assessment with the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC-17).
Objective
Analyzing the relationship between sleep quality and emotions in children with epilepsy.
Results
A total of 25 children were analyzed. Based on CSHQ and PSC-17 measurements which have met the inclusion criteria. The research subjects were 6 children (20.0%) and 24 teenagers (80.0%). Gender was 17 (68.0%) male and 8 (32.0%) female. Toddler age 5 (20.0%), childhood 16 (64.0), and early adolescence 4 (16.0%). Sleep quality was disturbed in 15 (60.0%) and sleep quality was not disturbed in 10 (40.0%). Emotionally disturbed 21 (84.0%) and emotionally not disturbed 4 (16.0%). Mean sleep duration was 7.54 hours, minimum 6 hours, and maximum 10 hours. Relationship between age and emotionality (p = 0.172), age and emotionality (p = 0.017), sleep quality and emotionality (p = 0.018).
Conclusion
There is a relationship between disturbed sleep quality and emotions in children with epilepsy.
