dc.description.abstractAntioxidant and antimicrobial research of ethanol extract of Gagatan Harimau leaves (Paraboea leuserensis B.L.Burtt) against staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans was conducted in January-April 2024.This research aims to determine the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of Gagatan Harimau (Paraboea leuserensis B.L.Burtt) ethanol extract using 2,2-diphenyl DPPH free radical methods and antibacterial activity test by disc diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer Test). The study was conducted in the Pharmaceutical Phytochemical Laboratory, Universitas Sumatra Utara and Integrated Laboratory, Sari Mutiara University, Medan. Antioxidant testing uses the 1-1picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) test method, and antibacterial testing uses paper discs. The presence of antioxidant activity is measured by IC50. The study showed that the phytochemical screening contained chemical compounds in the flavonoids, alconoids, glycosides, tannins, saponins, stroids/triterpenoids. Assay ethanol extract of gagatan harimau has antioxidant activity of 45.95 ppm. The results of antimicrobial testing showed inhibition zone results for Escherichia coli of 75%, 50%, 25% and 10% were (10.8 mm, 10.7 mm, 8.5 mm, and 8.5 mm), Staphylococcus aureus 75%, 50%, 25% and 10% were( 8.8 mm, 8.0 mm, 5.0 mm, and 5.0 mm), and in Candida albicans 75%, 50%, 25% and 10% were (8.2 mm, 8.0 mm, 7.3 mm, 7.3 mm), have the potential to inhibit growthen_US
