Metal Matrix Composite has good mechanical properties compared to aluminum alloy without reinforcement. The type of aluminum used is A356, which is widely used in the field of engineering. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in Silicon Carbide (SiC) composition of 2.5%, 3% and 3.5% in metal casting on hardness , tensile test and microstructure. Specimens are made using the open mold hoisting method with a rolling temperature / Hot Rolling of 350 OC. Casting is done by an open casting method where aluminum is melted which is then directly poured into an open mold without using a certain method, casting is done by melting A356 aluminum with added SiC particles. Rolling Machine is used to solidify A356 aluminum with added SiCicles with 20% reduction rolling. This study was conducted by varying the SiC mixture of 2.5%, 3%, and 3.5%. The highest hardness was obtained at a mixed variation of 3% SiC of 56.3 BHN. The highest tensile test was obtained at a 3% SiC mixture variation of 332.01 Mpa. In the microstructure test, the results of micro photos are seen in the mixture of SiC 3% silicon distribution in the aluminum matrix, the granular structure is flat and elongated after rolling, which indicates that there has been plastic deformation in the granular structure of the material which causes changes in the mechanical properties of the material.en_US
