Personal hygiene is an important thing that needs to be considered in daily life. Environmental sanitation in nursing homes needs to be considered because it tends to have a high level of residential density. Good personal hygiene practices and environmental sanitation that meet health standards can prevent skin complaints in the elderly, who are prone to health problems due to a weakened immune system. This study aims to analyze personal hygiene, environmental sanitation and skin health complaints among elderly at Harapan Jaya Foundation Nursing Home Medan in 2024. This type of research is a descriptive survey with sampling using the total sampling method. The population and sample of this study are all elderly people who inhabit this nursing home, which totals 33 people. The results of the study showed that the personal hygiene of the elderly at Harapan Jaya Foundation Nursing Home was in the good category, namely skin hygiene (100%) and hair hygiene (100%). Personal hygiene in the moderate category includes genitalia hygiene (78.8%), while the poor category includes foot, hand and nail hygiene (78.8%). The physical conditions of nursing homes, such as lighting and residential density, haven’t met health requirements. Basic sanitation, such as water sources, latrines, and waste water disposal systems (SPAL), have met the requirements, but waste disposal facilities haven’t met the requirements. A total of 19 elderly people (57.6%) experienced skin health complaints, with the majority being female (65%), aged 60-74 years (50%), length of stay 1-5 years (65%), and having a history of illness (90.9%). The most common type of skin complaint was itching, with a recurring frequency of 16 people (48.5%). It is recommended that nursing home managers improve environmental sanitation, and nurses improve the quality of service to the elderly.en_US
