Introduction: Tenofovir consumption has long been associated with disruption in calcium-related metabolism. Tenofovir inhibits the calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) which will affect the serum levels of phosphate, magnesium, vitamin D, or alkaline phosphatase (ALP). The aim of this study is to evaluate the association between duration of treatment using tenofovir with these parameters in HIVinfected children. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted on HIV-infected children in Adam Malik Hospital, Medan, Indonesia from July to October 2023. Patients aged >2 years and receiving tenofovir for >3 months and not taking vitamin D or calcium supplements are included in the study. Serum calcium, magnesium, phosphate, ALP, and vitamin D are the variables in this study. Statistical analysis is performed using shapiro-wilk, Chi Square (X2). Fisher's test is used if the data is not distributed normally. Results: A total of 22 children are included in the final analysis, with similar gender distribution (50% boys and girls) and a mean age of 10.6±3.1 years. Researchers noted that 54.5% of the population is given tenofovir for ≤ 36 months. No significant correlations are found between the levels of calcium, phosphate, ALP, vitamin D and the duration of tenofovir use with p-value >0,05. Conclusion: There is no significant association between duration of tenofovir use and changes in serum levels of all variables analyzed in children with HIV.en_US
