Population growth and rapid economic activity in Medan City have caused a significant increase in waste volume. Suboptimal waste handling triggers various environmental, health problems and limited land for final disposal sites (TPA). Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) technology offers an alternative solution by converting waste into fuel that can be used for energy generation. This research aims to analyze the potential for applying RDF technology in Medan City, both from a technical, economic and environmental perspective. The methods used in this research include literature studies, interviews with experts, and analysis of secondary data related to the characteristics of waste in Medan City. The research results show that RDF technology can reduce waste volume by up to 60% and produce energy that has the potential to support local industrial needs. Economic analysis shows that this technology is feasible to implement if supported by adequate government policies. In conclusion, implementing RDF in Medan City can be an effective solution for handling waste while supporting renewable energy, but requires synergy between government, society and the industrial sector.en_US
