Personal hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment for street sweeping workers is something that is very important for the existence of workers who are active on the streets. In carrying out their activities, street sweeping workers do not pay much attention to their own health, and the condition of workers who are always faced with an unfavorable environment such as rubbish, dust, smoke and air which causes disease, this is considered a risk to their health. Therefore, personal hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment are very necessary for street sweeping workers. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between personal hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment with health complaints among street sweepers in Rambah District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The type of research used is descriptive survey research with a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study were 61 street sweeping workers in Rambah District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The sample from this research was all street sweeping workers. The research results show that based on individual characteristics, the largest proportion is the percentage of street sweepers aged 40 - 60 years, which is 60.7 percent and all street sweepers are female. Based on education, 47.5 percent of street sweepers have elementary school education. Based on length of service, 54.1 percent of street sweepers have worked > 10 years. Based on personal hygiene, 82.8 percent of street sweepers have good personal hygiene. And 59 percent of street sweepers use PPE when working. The research results also showed that as many as 46 street sweepers (75.4%) did not experience health complaints. The results of the bivariate analysis show that there is a relationship between personal hygiene and health complaints (p-value 0.001) and there is a relationship between the use of PPE and health complaints (p-value 0.001). It is hoped that street sweepers will pay more attention to personal hygiene, such as washing their hands after work and always using PPE (gloves, boots and masks) to prevent the risk of disease occurring in the work environment.
