Dating violence is an act of physical, sexual or emotional violence. Dating violence can be caused by experiences of violence in the family (child maltreatment). The experience of child maltreatment can form low self-esteem and a tendency to commit violence. This research aims to determine the effect of childhood maltreatment on dating violence behavior in young adults who are dating, mediated by self-esteem. The research method used in this research is quantitative research with a sample of 95 people who are perpetrators of dating violence. Data analysis in this study used structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS). The research results showed that there was a significant and significant influence of child maltreatment on dating violence behavior in young adults who were dating, mediated by self-esteem. It can be said that individuals who have experienced child maltreatment have a tendency to become perpetrators of dating violence, but if the individual grows up with high self-esteem, the tendency for dating violence behavior will be lower.
