dc.description.abstractBackground: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) is a disease caused by infection with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), which belongs to the Betacorona virus of the Coronaviridae family. Coronavirus Disease2019 (COVID-19) was first discovered in late December 2019 in Wuhan, China, which was initially named Wuhan pneumonia. This COVID-19 infection is caused by SARS CoV-2, and has spread rapidly throughout the world until finally the World Health Organization (WHO) named the disease associated with 2019-nCoV as COVID-19. Objective :To analyze the relationship between age, gender and comorbidities with the degree of COVID-19 in children at the Haji Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan. Method : This study used a cross-sectional analytical observational design with a retrospective approach to analyze the relationship between age, gender and comorbidities with the degree of COVID-19 in children at the Haji Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan by taking medical record data. PThe study started in March 2024 and ended in July 2024. Results :There were 247 subjects recruited in the study. There was a significant association of comorbid heart and blood vessel disorders (p<0.001), kidney and urinary tract disorders (p<0.001), and nervous system disorders (p=0.186). Conclusion :In this study, we found that children with COVID-19 with comorbid diseases can be used for preventive approaches and management to reduce morbidity and mortality in children.en_US
