dc.description.abstractHypertension is a health problem which usually undergone by the elderly. It is concerned with blood circulation system disorder which causes the increase in blood pressure above the normal level. The elderly with hypertension need their family support which can motivate and, at the same time, become the support system. The objective of this research is to identify a family's emotional, informational, instrumental, and rewarding supports. The research uses descriptive research method. The samples are 40 respondents, taken by using nonprobability sampling or total sampling technique. The research is conducted at Kota Rantang Village, Hamparan Perk Subdistrict. The research instrument is questionnaire on demographic data and family support. The result of the research shows that 100% of the respondents get good family support, 35 respondents (87.5%) get good emotional support, 28 respondents (70%) get good informational support, 29 respondents (72.5%) get good instrumental support, and 34 respondents (85%) get good rewarding support, while the remaining 5 respondents (12.5%) get poor rewarding support. It is recommended that the health personnel who are in charge of the elderly people program at the Puskesmas (Supporting Public Health Center) optimize family participation in providing support for the elderly with hypertensionen_US
