dc.description.abstractCauses of gastritis are divided into internal factors, namely conditions that trigger excessive gastric acid secretion and external factors that cause irritation and infection. Some causes of gastritis are using aspirin or non-steroidal anti- inflammatory drugs, Helicobacter pylori infection, drinking habits, smoking habits, frequent stress and drinking coffee. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between coffee consumption and gastritis disease in the elderly at Tanah Tinggi Health Center, Binjai City. This type of research is a descriptive quantitative study with a correlational research type. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the majority are aged 56-65 years as many as 81 people with male gender as many as 40 people and coffee consumption in the high category as many as 68 people (79.0%) in the elderly at the Tanah Tinggi Health Center, Binjai City, the elderly consume coffee and those at risk of experiencing gastritis as many as 73 people. It is hoped that further research can explore what factors can cause gastritis in the elderly besides coffee consumption.en_US
