Effectiveness of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on Nursing Students’ Knowledge and Skills in CPR at Universitas Sumatera Utara
Abstract
Cardiac arrest is a primary medical emergency in the cardiovascular. The most accurate management is implementing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). One of the factors influencing the success of CPR is having good knowledge and skill. The objective of this research is to identify the influence of CPR training on the knowledge and skill of nursing students at Universitas Sumatera Utara. The research uses a quasy-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consist of 30 respondents. The data are analyzed using a Paired Sample Statistic t-test. The result of the research, using Paired Sample Statistic t-test, shows that there is a correlation between the respondents’ knowledge and their skill in pre and post CPR training, with a p-value <0.05, indicating the influence of CPR training on the knowledge and skill of nursing students at Universitas Sumatera Utara. It is suggested that future researchers provide CPR training regularly through more efficient media.
