Background
Aerosols known to come from e-cigarettes usually contain 40-120 chemicals.
Decreased lung function, especially at FEF25% and FEF75% in patients who
initially smoked using tobacco after 3 months of stopping then switched to ecigarettes.
The sputum content of patients with e-cigarettes is innate protein which
will be released if there is inflammation of the bronchi and damage to the
bronchial structures, which include neutrophil elastase, proteinase3, azurocidin1
and myeloperoxidase as well as other secondary neutrophil granule proteins.
Method
This study took a sample of research subjects using three groups where each
group consisted of 22 students, these groups were entered according to inclusion
and exclusion criteria, with statistical tests used in the form of ANOVA and
Kruskall Walis
Results
The age of 17 years is the most age for using electric cigarettes and tobacco
cigarettes, more males than females, which affects differences in lung function
values based on the characteristics of electric smokers where the content of
cigarettes plays a role in FEF 25-75% and ⌂SVC-KVP (p <0.05). Tobacco
cigarettes affect SVC, KVP and VEP1 values (p < 0.05) while electric cigarettes
affect ⌂SVC-KVP and APE values (p < 0.05).
Conclusion
Statistically, there is an effect of nicotine levels on ⌂SVC-KVP and FEF values of
25-75%. Tobacco cigarettes statistically affect the decrease of SVC, KVP, and
VEP1, while e-cigarettes affect the value of ⌂SVC-KVP and APE
