Background: Premature aging is the process of skin aging faster than the actual age or what it should be. Skin can naturally experience premature aging and this can be caused by free radical sources. Antioxidants are compounds that can counteract or reduce the negative impact of oxidants in the body. Peel-off gel mask is a skin care cosmetic preparation that has a gel form and after being applied to the skin for a certain time until it dries, this preparation will form a transparent and elastic film layer so that it can be peeled off. Pagoda leaves (Clerodendrum paniculatum L.) are one example of a plant that can be used as an antioxidant Objective: To formulate and evaluate the effectiveness of a peel-off gel mask of pagoda leaf (Clerodendrum paniculatum L.) ethanol extract as an anti-aging agent. Methods: This study was conducted by making pagoda leaf skin extract using the maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Phytochemical screening and characterization of pagoda leaf simplex and pagoda leaf ethanol extract were carried out. Peel-off gel mask preparations were formulated with variations in extract concentrations ranging from 7.5%, 10%, to 12.5%. Evaluation of peel-off gel mask preparations included homogeneity tests, pH, preparation stability, preparation drying time, viscosity tests, irritation tests on volunteers, and anti aging effectiveness tests using a skin analyzer with parameters such as water content, pores, blemishes, and wrinkles which were carried out within 4 weeks. Then data analysis was carried out using statistical tests, namely Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney Tests. Results: The results of phytochemical screening of simplisia and ethanol extract of pagoda leaves showed positive for flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, glycosides, saponins, and steroids. The peel-off gel mask preparation of ethanol extract of pagoda leaves with concentrations of 7.5%; 10%; 12.5% has a dark green color, smells distinctive, homogeneous. The peel-off gel mask preparation is stable during 12 weeks of storage and does not irritate the skin of volunteers. The results of the anti-aging effectiveness test of the peel-off gel mask preparation of ethanol extract of pagoda leaves showed the best results in F3, namely with an extract concentration of 12.5% compared to other formulas. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of pagoda leaves can be formulated as a peel-off gel mask and is stable for 12 weeks of storage. Pagoda leaf ethanol extract peel-off gel mask with 12.5% extract concentration (F3) has the best anti-aging effectiveness compared to other formulas.en_US
