Background: Refractive error is a disorder that can occur when a clear image cannot be formed on the retina and also the most common eye disorder. Activities such as reading, watching television, and playing gadgets on close distance and high intensity are risk factors of refractive error. Visual disturbances in children can disrupt the learning process and their activities at school, resulting a decrease in the children’s ability to process the learning materials and reduced the potential to increase their intelligence. Objectives: To determine the associations between the activity patterns with the incidence of refractive error of the school-aged patients at the Eye Clinic of Budi Kemuliaan Hospital, Batam. Methods: Analytical research with a cross-sectional approach. The data was collected through direct examination by the researcher and Research Status Form filled by the respondents. Results: 38 respondents consisted of school-aged patients at the Eye Clinic of Budi Kemuliaan Hospital Batam, showed that the incidence of refractive error was 94.7% (36 people), with 5.3% (2 people) having no refractive error. The incidence of refractive error was more common in girls (72.2%) than boys (27.8%), and in the 11-14 years (38.9%) and 15-18 years (38.9%) age groups. The data has been analyzed using the logistic regression test with the p value of reading books = 0.374; playing gadgets = 0.515; watching television = 0.63; and computer usage = 0.997 (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is no activity pattern that has a significant association with the incidence of refractive error.en_US
