Modeling and Simulation of Wind Energy Systems in Wind Turbines Using Simulate Multidomain Physical Systems (SIMSCAPE) in Matlab Simulink
Abstract
The wind energy system simulation modeling on a wind turbine was created using Simulate Multidomain Physical Systems (SIMSCAPE) in Simulink Matlab. This Program is designed to simulate wind turbines and measure wind speed, electrical power and efficiency produced by wind turbines. The simulate multidomain physical systems (SIMSCAPE) method contained in Matlab Simulink is used to build and develop wind turbine modeling. Turbine modeling is adapted to horizontal axis wind turbines. The existing wind speed data will be calculated using the Matlab program. In calculating this data, we will use the law of kinetic energy, electrical power and the Betz limit law. Where the Betz limit law will affect the efficiency of converting wind speed into electrical power. With this simulation we will be able to calculate the potential power produced by wind turbines for one of the areas in North Sumatra. Basically wind turbines apply the concept of aerodynamics.
