Pengaruh Penambahan Filler Serat Cangkang Kopi terhadap Karakterisasi Plastik Biodegradable Pati Biji Durian dengan Plasticizer Sorbitol
Effect of Coffee Shell Fiber Filler Addition on the Characterization of Durian Seed Starch Biodegradable Plastic with Sorbitol Plasticizer
Abstract
In this study, biodegradable plastic was made using the melt intercalation method. At
the initial stage, starch was obtained from durian seed waste that had been blended
and precipitated. Biodegradable plastic made from durian seed starch, chitosan and
sorbitol plasticizer was produced by drying at 65°C. The study of biodegradable
plastics was carried out by varying the amount of coffee shell fiber filler added with
chitosan (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)% and by varying the amount of sorbitol plasticizer (40, 60,
80)%. Optimum characterization results were obtained on biodegradable plastics with
40% sorbitol concentration and 6% filler. Density analysis results obtained with a
value of 1.51 g/cm3. The tensile strength test obtained with a value of 1.27 MPa.
Elongation results were obtained with a value of 44.68%. Morphological test results
using SEM look better and there are no black parts that indicate the presence of empty
cavities. Furthermore, analysis using FTIR obtained clusters that are identical to the
elements that form biodegradable plastics, namely O-H, C-H, and N-H. However, the
results of the water absorption test in this study were not optimal, which was obtained
with a value of 52.54%.
