Background. Anxiety and body image are two psychological aspects that are interrelated, especially among university students. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-Anxiety (HADS-A) is used to measure anxiety levels, while the Body Shape Questionnaire-34 (BSQ-34) assesses dissatisfaction with body shape. Objective. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale subscale Anxiety (HADS-A) score and the Body Shape Questionnaire-34 (BSQ-34) score among medical students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Method. This research employs a crosssectional design involving 261 active medical students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The sample was selected using a consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected using the HADS-A and BSQ-34 questionnaires, which had been translated into Indonesian. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman correlation tests. Results and Discussion. The majority of respondents had normal levels of anxiety (57.5%), while 42.5% exhibited mild to severe anxiety. Regarding body dissatisfaction, 60.9% of respondents fell into the "no or low dissatisfaction" category, while the remainder demonstrated moderate to very high dissatisfaction levels. Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between HADS-A and BSQ-34 scores (r = 0,214, p = 0,000). Conclusion. There is a statistically significant positive correlation between anxiety levels and body dissatisfaction among medical students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
