dc.description.abstract | The involvement of fathers in parenting, especially with daughters, is very important because it has emotional and social impacts on a person. Indonesia ranks third in the world for the highest number of fatherless cases. According to the 2021 Susenas data, approximately 2,999,577 people have lost their father figure or do not live with their father. The preliminary survey conducted found that there are 3 female students who experienced fatherless. The purpose of the research to analyze the emotional and social development of fatherless girls among students at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara . The research was conducted
using qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques, and the informant selection technique used was the snowball method. The results obtained indicate that the informants experienced fatherlessness due to a disharmonious family condition caused by a lack of communication among family members, divorce, and living separately from the family. This also led to a poor relationship with the father due to alack of interaction, a breakdown in communication with him, the death of the mother, and the discovery of recurring incidents where the informant's father also experienced fatherless. As a result, it impacted the informants, leading to feelings of disappointment, anger, jealousy, heightened sensitivity, deep trauma, changes in behavior when with family and peers, and even the informants' decision to get married It is hoped that female students will continue to improve their relationship with their fathers by trying to maintain communication. Additionally, in the learning of the child survival course, it is important to explain the significance of the father's role in parenting, especially for daughters. | en_US |
