Korelasi Skor GERDQ dan GSRS dalam Mendiagnosis Gerd pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sumatera Utara Angkatan 2021-2023
Correlation Between GERDQ and GSRS Scores in Diagnosing GERD Among Medical Students of The Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara Class of 2021-2023
Abstract
Background. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a common clinical
condition among university students, especially those with unhealthy lifestyles.
The prevalence of GERD can be detected through various screening tools, such as
the GERD Questionnaire (GERDQ) and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating
Scale (GSRS). Aim. To determine the prevalence of GERD based on GERDQ and
GSRS scores and to analyze the accuracy of GSRS in detecting GERD. Method. A
cross-sectional design was employed, involving 186 medical students from the
University of Sumatera Utara, using data obtained from the GERDQ and GSRS
questionnaires to diagnose GERD. Results. showed that the prevalence of GERD
among respondents was 16.7%, with 31 out of 186 respondents identified as
suffering from GERD by both questionnaires. Validity and reliability tests
indicated that the GERDQ and GSRS instruments were valid and reliable, with
Cronbach's alpha coefficients of 0.889 and 0.941, respectively. Pearson
correlation analysis yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.966 with a significance
level of 0.000, indicating a very strong relationship between GERDQ and GSRS
scores. Conclusion. of this study is that the GERDQ and GSRS questionnaires
have a high level of consistency and accuracy in detecting GERD, making them
effective screening tools. The use of both questionnaires is recommended for early
screening of GERD, especially in at-risk populations.
