Pengaruh Jumlah Tube Kondensor Bertipe Shell And Tube terhadap Kuantitas Minyak pada Pyrolisis Waste Plastic
The Effect of the Number of Shell and Tube Condenser Tubes on the Quantity of Oil IN Plastic Waste Pyrolisis
Abstract
This study investigates the effect of the number of tubes in a shell-and-tube condenser on
the quantity of oil produced from the pyrolysis of plastic waste. The primary objective is
to analyze the variations in the number of tubes (4, 5, and 6) and their impact on heat
transfer rates and the volume of pyrolysis oil obtained. The plastic waste used in this
study was sourced from the Terjun landfill, consisting of various types of plastics. The
research method involved heating the reactor to 300°C using LPG fuel and employing a
condenser to condense the vapor from the pyrolysis process into liquid oil. The results
show that increasing the number of tubes enhances heat transfer effectiveness and the
volume of oil produced. The condenser with 6 tubes provided the best performance,
achieving a heat transfer effectiveness of 59.28% and an oil volume of 1380 ml.This
study contributes to plastic waste management efforts through more efficient and
sustainable energy conversion technologies. Recommendations for future research
include exploring more optimal coolant fluids and alternative fuels for reactor heating.
