Effectiveness of Goal-setting Training to Increase Career Maturity of Nurul Hasanah Tembung High School Students
Abstract
High school students must not only have good academic abilities, but they must
also be ready to face the challenges posed by the increasingly dynamic world of
work. It is not only that today's world of work demands individuals who are not
only intellectually intelligent, but also have career maturity. A career involves
planning to achieve goals and aspirations, considering individual abilities and skills,
as well as choosing from a variety of existing jobs. This study aims to determine
the effectiveness of goal-setting training to improve the career maturity of high
school students. This type of research is Quasi experiment with One group Pretest
Posttest design. The research subjects amounted to 20 students consisting of 10
women and 10 men. The measuring instrument used in this study is an adapted
career maturity scale. This instrument refers to Savickas' (2005) career maturity
theory which includes three dimensions, namely: control, concern, curiosity, and
confidence.
The data analysis method using Wilcoxon Signed Rank obtained a p value = 0.014
<0.05, which means that the hypothesis of this study is accepted, namely goalsetting
training is effective for increasing the career maturity of high school
students.
