Pengaruh Parenting Style dan Loneliness terhadap Perilaku Problematic Internet Use (PIU) pada Remaja

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of parenting style and loneliness on Problematic Internet Use (PIU) behavior in adolescents. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling, involving 399 adolescents aged 13-18 who use the internet. The research utilized three scales: the Problematic Internet Use (PIU) scale, the parenting style scale, and the loneliness scale. Data analysis involved multiple and simple regression analysis. The results revealed the following key findings (1) There is a collective influence of parenting style (Authoritarian, Authoritative, Permissive) and loneliness on the tendency towards Problematic Internet Use (PIU) behavior in adolescents. (2) Authoritarian parenting style demonstrated a positive and significant influence on the tendency towards Problematic Internet Use (PIU) behavior. (3) Authoritative parenting style exhibited a negative and significant influence on the tendency towards Problematic Internet Use (PIU) behavior. (4) Permissive parenting style demonstrated a positive and significant effect on the tendency towards Problematic Internet Use (PIU) behavior. (5) loneliness independently showed a positive influence on the tendency towards Problematic Internet Use (PIU) behavior. The implications of this research are significant, as it provides valuable insights for adolescents on appropriate internet usage behavior.
