    Abstract
Introduction: Intensive physical activities, such as Taekwondo training, have the potential to affect urinary creatinine levels, which can serve as indicators of kidney and muscle condition in athletes. Objective: This study aims to examine changes in urinary creatinine levels in Taekwondo athletes before and after training, as well as the relationship between creatinine levels and demographic characteristics like age, body weight, height, and body mass index (BMI). Methods: This pre-post test study involved Taekwondo athletes at the Taekwondo Gym of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI), North Sumatra Province. The sample consisted of athletes with an average age of 19.67 years, body weight of 62.92 kg, height of 170.58 cm, and BMI of 21.52 kg/m². Creatinine levels were measured before and after training. Correlation analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between creatinine levels and demographic variables. Results: The average urinary creatinine level before training was 3.41 mg/dL, which increased to 5.63 mg/dL post-training, indicating a significant rise due to intensive physical activity. Analysis showed that only body weight had a significant relationship with pre-exercise creatinine levels (p = 0.028). There was no significant relationship between age, height, BMI, or body weight and post-exercise creatinine levels. Conclusion: Intensive physical training impacts urinary creatinine levels in Taekwondo athletes, with body weight being the only demographic factor significantly related to pre-exercise creatinine levels. Regular monitoring of creatinine levels is recommended to prevent potential health risks for athletes undergoing intense training.
