    Abstract
    Background. Sharp trauma is a traumatic injury that refers to wounds on the body caused by objects that have sharp or pointed edges, such as knives, daggers, or other objects that have sharp edges. Sharp trauma is known to have three types of wounds, namely cuts, stab wounds and slash wounds. In Indonesia, in the period 2018 2022, there were 4,667 cases of murder caused by trauma. Where the North Sumatra region in 2022 will occupy second place with 84 cases Objective. This research aims to determine the characteristics of sharp trauma wounds from victims who died in North Sumatra who were examined at the forensic department of Bhayangkara Hospital in 2022 2024. Methods. This research is a n observational descriptive study with a cross sectional research design. Results. During the period from January 6 2022 to June 11 2024, the most victims who died from sharp trauma were men, namely 70%. The age group most commonly found is the 19 60 year age group, namely 75%. The group of workers who are most often victims of sharp tr auma are self employed, namely 35%, followed by the group of victims who do not work, namely 25%. The group of victims that occurred most frequently were victims who were Muslim, namely 52.5%, followed by victims who were Protestant Christians at 32.5%. Ba sed on the year of examination, the highest percentage of cases resulting from sharp trauma was in 2023, namely 22 cases. And the type of wound that most often occurs in victims is stab wounds, as many as 35%. Conclusion. The majority of victims were men a ged 19 60 years who worked as entrepreneurs, with the most common type of injury found being stab wounds. The incidence of sharp trauma cases has increased slowly since 2022.
