Introduction. Dengue is a tropical infection disease caused by the dengue virus
transmitted through Aedes mosquito bites. Nowadays, Indonesia as a tropical
country is an endemic area for dengue throughout its territory, including Medan.
The increase in the number of dengue cases every year has led to the emergence of
various dengue prevention strategy programs that require active community
participation. Knowledge is one of the factors that influences the formation of
preventive behavior. Objective. To analyze the relationship between level of
knowledge and dengue prevention behavior in Tegal Sari Mandala II Village,
Medan Denai District, Medan City. Method. This research is an analytical
observational study with a cross-sectional approach conducted in August 2024. The
population of this research is the people of Tegal Sari Mandala II Village with a
sample of 131 people. Primary data was gathered through interviews using a
structured questionnaire and the sampling technique was carried out using
consecutive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using the chi-square test.
Results and Discussion. The research results showed that the majority of
respondents had a very good level of knowledge (59.5%) and sufficient preventive
behavior (42.7%). Bivariate analysis of the relationship between knowledge and
dengue prevention behavior showed that p value=0.007 (p<0.05) and POR=0,321.
Conclusion. There is a relationship between the level of knowledge and dengue
prevention behavior. Cross-sector and cross-program collaboration is needed in
an effort to increase knowledge and prevent dengue.
