    Abstract
    Introduction Cholelithiasis, or gallstones, was a medical condition where gallstones were found within the gallbladder, bile ducts, or both. Gallstones formed from material or crystals present in the gallbladder. Risk factors influencing the formation of gallstones included gender, age over 40 years, hyperlipidemia, obesity, genetic factors, physical activity levels, pregnancy, highfat diet, slow gastric emptying, prolonged parenteral nutrition, and gallbladder motility disorders. Objective This study aimed to determine the characteristics of gallstone patients who received treatment at RSUP HAM Medan in 2023. Method This study was a descriptive study. The data collected were secondary data from the medical records of patients diagnosed with gallstones. Results Out of 309 patients with gallstones, the majority were over 40 years old (247 patients, or 79.9%), female (172 patients, or 55.7%), had a normal BMI (53 patients, or 17.2%) with 93 valid samples, stone size <5.9 mm (75 patients, or 24.3%) with 185 valid samples, single stones (200 patients, or 64.7%), upper right abdominal pain (291 patients, or 94.2%), normal blood glucose levels (273 patients, or 88.3%), normal cholesterol levels (55 patients, or 17.8%) with 90 valid samples, elevated bilirubin levels (157 patients, or 50.8%), leukocytosis (177 patients, or 57.3%), normal ALT levels (201 patients, or 65.0%), elevated AST levels (174 patients, or 56.3%), and elevated ALP levels (60 patients, or 19.4%) with 96 valid samples. Conclusion Among patients with gallstones, the majority were over 40 years old, female, had a normal BMI with 93 valid samples, stone size <5.9 mm with 185 valid samples, single stones, upper right abdominal pain, normal blood glucose levels, normal cholesterol levels with 90 valid samples, elevated bilirubin levels, leukocytosis, normal ALT levels, elevated AST levels, and elevated ALP levels with 96 valid samples.
