Background: Antibiotics are one of the great discoveries in the world of health that have saved many lives. Since the first antibiotic, penicillin, was discovered in 1928 by Sir Henry Flaming, penicillin has been very effective and used in cases of severe infections. Objective: The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether the Sei Putih Timur 2 community's antibiotic use behavior and their degree of antibiotic awareness are related. Method: A cross-sectional strategy is used in this descriptive analytical study. Alongside the dependent variable—the use of antibiotics—the independent variable—the degree of public understanding regarding antibiotics—was also examined. Results and Discussion: this research shows that 32 respondents with a low level of knowledge showed irrational behavior in using antibiotics and only 6 people had rational behavior. Respondents who had sufficient knowledge mostly had rational behavior in using antibiotics, namely around 44 of the total respondents, and only 12 respondents showed irrational behavior. The majority of respondents who were included in the good category in terms of level of knowledge about antibiotics showed rational behavior, namely 19 respondents and only 7 respondents showed irrational behavior. Conclusion: most of the antibiotic use behavior of the East Sei Putih 2 Community is classified as rational, and has sufficient knowledge about antibiotics.en_US
