Introduction. Skin diseases in geriatric patients are common health conditions with
significant impacts on quality of life. In Indonesia, documentation of skin disease
profiles in the elderly population is still limited. Objective. This study aims to
identify the profile of skin diseases in geriatric patients at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P.
Lubis USU Hospital from 2019 to 2023, including age distribution, gender,
diagnoses, chief complaints, and treatments provided. Method. This descriptive
study employed a cross-sectional design using medical record data of geriatric
patients aged ≥60 years who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results and
Discussion. Out of 516 samples, the majority of patients were aged 60–64 years
(36.8%) and predominantly male (56.4%). The most common skin diseases were
lichen simplex chronicus in males (20.6%) and senile pruritus in females (27.1%).
The most frequent subjective complaint was itching, while macules were the most
observed objective sign. Topical corticosteroids and systemic antihistamines were
the most frequently administered therapies. Conclusion. Skin diseases in elderly
patients at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis USU Hospital are predominantly
characterized by lichen simplex chronicus and senile pruritus. These findings are
expected to provide a basis for improving skin health services for geriatric patients.
