Background. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) has become one of the most common causes of death worldwide. The mortality rate in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis increased by 0.6% in 2021. Objective. To determine the relationship between the initial Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) value and the survival of stage V CKD patients undergoing regular hemodialysis. Methods. This study is an analytical study with a cross-sectional design conducted from July to September 2024 at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin, P. Lubis Hospital, Medan. The inclusion criteria for the study sample were stage V CKD patients recorded in the medical record starting regular hemodialysis in 2021-2023 and the exclusion criteria for the study sample were patients with incomplete medical record data. Data were analyzed using Kaplan Meier survival curve and the log-rank test. Results and Discussion. Of the 65 research samples, the largest distribution was the 45-59 year age group (40%), male (64.6%), starting hemodialysis with an initial eGFR value of <5.0 ml/minute/1.73 m2 (44.6%), and undergoing regular hemodialysis for <12 months (56.9%). The average initial eGFR value was 5.74 ml/minute/1.73 m2. The log-rank test results did not obtain a significant value (p-value >0.05). Conclusion. There is no significant difference in survival based on the initial eGFR value at the time of hemodialysis initiation.en_US
