    Abstract
    Background. The crime of homicide is an act committed by someone intentionally or negligently that causes the loss of another person’s life. Homicide is still rampant in society, even though it is regulated by law and the Criminal Code. Violence against homicide victims can occur in various types, such as blunt violence, sharp violence, and other violence. Objective. To determine the description of the types of mechanical violence in criminal homicide cases at autopsy. Methods. This study used a descriptive design with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used total sampling using Visum et Repertum data of criminal homicide cases victims at Bhayangkara Hospital Tk II Medan for the period January 2021-January 2022. Results. 62 samples were obtained which showed that the majority of homicide victims at Bhayangkara Tk II Medan Hospital were 16-25 years old (27,4%), male (79%), types of violence was blunt violence (48,4%), location of violence was head and face region (50%), number of wounds were 2-9 wounds (61,3%), cause of death was due to fracture in the head and face region (40,3%), and Visum et Repertum requests was from Sunggal Police (14,5%). Conclusion. Blunt violence was mostly found in homicide cases victims. Head and face regions was the most common location of violence. Most of the wounds were multiple wounds. The cause of death was mostly due to fracture in the head and face region.
