Introduction. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease with problems in insulin and glucose metabolism. DM is one of the top ten causes of global death. Many factors influence the incidence of type 2 DM, one of which is diet which is influenced by nutritional knowledge. Objective. To determine the relationship between the level of nutritional knowledge andthe risk of type 2 DM as measured by glucose ad random in adults in the work area of the Saranpadang Community Health Center, Simalungun Regency. Method. The method used is analytical with a cross-sectional study approach. In this study, the sample used was adults in the Saranpadang Community Health Center working area in August- September 2024 with a total of 94 people using a purposive sampling method. Results. The subject's level of nutritional knowledge was evenly distributed in the categories of poor, sufficient and good. It was found that 41.5% of subjects had a risk of type 2 DM as seen from glucose ad random. The Chi-square test showed a relationship between the subject's level of nutritional knowledge and the risk of type 2 DM (p value <0.05). Conclusion. There is a relationship between the level of nutritional knowledge and the risk of type 2 DM in the work area of the Saranpadang Community Health Center, Simalungun Regency.
