The Bank Indonesia Medan office, a historic building erected in 1907, is undergoing a comprehensive evaluation of its structural reliability. This assessment will specifically analyze the strong column-weak beam (sc-wb) ratio using response spectrum and linear time history analysis. The ground motion used are Niigata (Mw. 6.63), Tohoku (Mw. 9.12) and Miyagi (Mw. 7.15). The inspection has revealed that the existing building does not meet the earthquake resistance standards specified in SNI 1726:2019 and SNI 2847:2019, necessitating adjustments to the concrete structure to achieve a strong column weak beam ratio 1.2. Notably, the Niigata earthquake resulted in the highest inter-story drift and displacement, while the response spectrum indicated the highest base shear force. It is crucial assess the building’s structural performance, taking into account the potential for immediate occupancy (IO) collapse.
