Currently, human civilization is undergoing a transition toward the use of renewable
energy. However, fossil fuels, particularly petroleum, remain the primary energy
source worldwide. The global dependence on petroleum is driven by its high energy
density, logistical convenience, and relatively abundant availability. As a non-
renewable energy source, the world's petroleum reserves will eventually deplete and
be exhausted. Therefore, its use must be carried out efficiently and sustainably. One
effort to conserve petroleum usage and reduce carbon emissions is by integrating a
Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) into fuel storage tanks. The use of VRUs to recover fuel
vapor during the storage process has proven effective in reducing carbon emissions
while simultaneously increasing corporate profitability. The condenser component in
the VRU system plays a crucial role in the vapor recovery process. The condenser is
designed with a vapor recovery capacity of 30 kg/hour and an effectiveness ranging
from 90% to 92%, depending on the temperature of the cooling water used. Based on
simulations conducted using the Aspen Plus software, the designed VRU system
demonstrates optimal performance, particularly when using cooling water at a
temperature of 5°C. Under these conditions, the VRU system's effectiveness can reach
95%, meeting the standards set by the American Petroleum Institute (API)
