Perubahan Sosial Masyarakat di Kawasan Industri Medan (Studi di Lingkungan IV Tangkahan, Kecamatan Medan Labuhan, Medan)

Abstract

This study aims to determine how social changes in the community around the Medan Industrial Area occur with the presence of immigrants and the contributions made by immigrants when settling in Environment IV Tangkahan. The data collection techniques used in this study were in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The informants in this study numbered 12 informants consisting of 2 key informants, 4 local community informants in Environment IV Tangkahan and 6 informants from immigrant communities. The results of the study related to social change are the presence of immigrants around the Medan Industrial Area who have brought important changes to the surrounding community. In the past, the community around the Medan Industrial Area was a traditional community, residents were involved in the plantation and agricultural sectors. Along with the advancement of globalization, population growth has increased due to the existence of the Medan Industrial Area. The large number of Lifetime Migrations entering Environment IV Tangkahan has caused social change to affect a continuous process of all individuals in each community. This can be seen from various aspects such as changes in social structure, socio-economic changes, and socio-cultural changes. The presence of immigrants in the Medan Industrial Area has a complex impact on the development of the Tangkahan IV Environment community. The many contributions made by immigrants have made social changes that have increased their welfare. The Tangkahan IV Environment community is one of the communities that is able to control itself, towards better social change, even though there are immigrants in a community.
