Clinicopathology of Lung Cancer Patients at Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital in 2023
Abstract
Background. Lung cancer is one of the cancers caused by abnormal cell growth in the
lungs. According to The Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN) 2022, lung cancer
is the most prevalent type of cancer worldwide with a death rate of 1,817,469. Clinical
manifestations of lung cancer vary depending on the location of the tumour. Lung
cancer requires supporting examinations to make a diagnosis, one of which is an
anatomical pathology examination which is useful to see how the histopathology of
lung cancer. Objective. To determine the clinicopathology of lung cancer patients at
Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital in 2023. Methods. This study is a descriptive study
with a cross-sectional design . Data were obtained through patient medical records at
Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital in 2023. The data in this study were processed using
Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) software. Results and Discussion.
Based on the analysis of 63 research samples, it was found that lung cancer patients at
Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital were mostly aged 51-60 years as many as 26 people
(41.3%) with male gender as many as 48 people (76.2%). Generally came with clinical
symptoms of shortness of breath as many as 22 people (34.9%) and the majority had a
tumour size of T4 as many as 30 people (47.6%). Based on histopathological
classification according to WHO, lung cancer patients mostly have adenocarcinoma
type as many as 35 people (55.5%). Conclusion. Lung cancer patients at Murni Teguh
Memorial Hospital in 2023 were mostly 51-60 years old, male with clinical symptoms
of shortness of breath, tumour size T4, and histopathology of adenocarcinoma.
