Abstract
Badan Pengembangan Riset Inovasi Universitas Sumatera Utara (BPRI-USU) is a work unit that aims to improve the development of innovative startup products derived from the results of lecturers' research. Commercialization of innovative products that are the result of the application of technology and continuous research aims to make life easier and provide economic impact. However, these innovative products face challenges in terms of product assessment, certification, and providing other requirements needed to support the performance of innovative products. Deficiencies in these aspects can result in product failure, low adoption rates by the community, and inappropriate strategies in facing competition. This study aims to measure the Technology Readiness Level (TKT) and Innovation Readiness Level (Katsinov) and conduct a SWOT analysis of innovative products
at BPRI-USU. The methods used in this study include direct observation, interviews, and questionnaire distribution. The results of the study showed that there were 6 products that had commercial status, 5 products were ready to be commercialized, and 3 products were still in the development stage. There are alternative strategies consisting of strength-opportunity, strength-threat, weakness-opportunity, weakness-threat strategies that can be applied to each innovation product according to the assessment results. This research is expected to provide guidance for the development of innovation product commercialization strategies and strengthen synergy between universities, industry, and government.
