Keterbukaan Diri Dalam Penggunaan Aplikasi Bumble Pada Mahasiswa Universitas Sumatera Utara
Abstract
This research is entitled Self-Disclosure in Using the Bumble Application among University of Sumatera Utara Students. The research aims to determine self-disclosure in using the Bumble application among University of Sumatera Utara students and the positive and negative impacts of using the Bumble application. This research uses a qualitative descriptive methods. The research was conducted at the University of Sumatera Utara, which was carried out from January to June 2024. This research used snowball data collection techniques. The research informants were 8 students at the University of Sumatera Utara. The results of this research show that informants limit self-disclosure to personal information and only general information, when informants find similarities with their interlocutor they will tend to self-disclose. The self-disclosure carried out by Bumble application users will progress over time. However, Bumble application users have their own stages when disclosing themselves to the person they are talking to. When the user feels compatible with other users, it will make it easier to self-disclose. Along with the development of the dating application, students at the University of Sumatera Utara are aware of the positive and negative impacts of self-disclosure in interactions. The positive impacts that occur after using the Bumble dating application range from exploring sexual identity, expanding social relationships, increasing self-confidence and building relationships, to mental development and thought patterns, while the negative impacts that occur after using the Bumble dating application mostly center on experiences of verbal harassment. , inappropriate sexual advances, communication difficulties, and incompatibility of character and morals.
