Pengalaman Klien dalam Melakukan Perawatan Kanker Payudara di Kecamatan Medan Marelan

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer treatment not only causes physical but also psychological side effects that will affect the quality of life of cancer patients. Self-care of breast cancer patients is needed to overcome the side effects of chemotherapy and help them adapt to their condition and have a positive effect on their quality of life. Objective: This study aims to explore the client's experience of breast cancer care. Methods: This study used a qualitative research method with a phenomenological design through in-depth interviews. Participants in the study amounted to 12 women who were diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone chemotherapy. The data analysis process in this study used the Colaizzi data analysis method. Results: The results of data analysis from this study obtained 5 themes, namely seeking information and treatment at the time of diagnosis, the adaptation process after receiving treatment, support during chemotherapy, barriers to treatment, and expectations in breast cancer treatment. Conclusion: Women diagnosed with breast cancer make various efforts in overcoming their illness starting from the initial symptoms found to the treatment process undertaken with various obstacles and support felt, this is done because of their high hopes for their future recovery.
