Upaya Petani Dalam Meningkatkan Sosial Ekonomi Masyarakat Petani di Desa Purba Sipinggan Kecamatan Purba Kabupaten Simalungun

Abstract

Agriculture is one of the human activities that use biological resources to produce food, industrial raw materials or energy sources, and to manage the environment. Purba Sipinggan Village is one of the villages where the majority of the population works as farmers, the type of agriculture carried out by the farmers in this village is farming with short term and long term crops. This research will use a research approach method with a descriptive qualitative type, which is carried out to answer questions related to the status of the research object at the time of conducting the research, or in other words, to inform the situation as it is. The informants in this study were a total of 7 people with details of 1 person as a key informant, 5 people as main informants and 1 person as an additional informant. The data collection method in this study has 3 ways, namely through observation, interviews and documentation, then the results of the research. The results of this study explain the efforts made by farmers in Purba Sipinggan Village, Purba District, Simalungun Regency in improving their socio-economy, There are 3 types of efforts that have been made by farmers in the village, namely: a) Following counseling on the use of fertilizers and medicines, b) Innovating crops to be more profitable, and c) conducting nurseries to increase income, these efforts have been made by farmers to increase their income. There are also efforts made to improve the socio-economy, namely: a) Cultivating other livelihoods, b) Expanding and improving farming businesses, c) Cultivating non-agricultural activities, d) Including farm families in community activities and institutional activities.
