The research discusses the implementation of inclusive education at
Yayasan Rumah Ceria Medan as an effort to address social issues related to
children with special needs in the field of education. Children with Special Needs
(CSN) are among the Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) who require extra
attention and assistance from others to fulfill their social functions. This study will
employ a qualitative descriptive research approach to answer questions related to
the status of the research object at the time of the study, essentially providing
information on the current situation. The research focuses on the applied learning
strategies, supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as the resulting impacts. The
strategies include: 1) initial assessment, 2) personalized curriculum provision, 3)
support from special education teachers in class, 4) additional classes, and 5)
special classes. Supporting factors for implementing inclusive education involve
collaboration between teachers and parents, cooperation with government
agencies, and specialized training for teachers. Inhibiting factors consist of
inadequate facilities and infrastructure, limited funding sources, and a shortage of
qualified teachers. The impact of inclusive education implementation is reflected in
improved academic, social, and emotional development of children, as well as a
reduction in negative stigma towards children with special needs in society. The
implementation of inclusive education at Rumah Ceria Foundation Medan
represents an effort to tackle social issues faced by children with special needs in
education. Rumah Ceria Foundation Medan has successfully created an inclusive
learning environment where children with and without disabilities can learn and
play together without regard to differences.
