    Abstract
    Background : RAdolescence is an important stage in human development which is characterized by rapid physical growth, psychosocial, cognitive and emotional development, as well as sexual and reproductive learning. The menstrual cycle usually starts when teenage girls are 12 – 15 years old. During menstruation, young women experienced physical and mental discomfort. Premenstrual syndrome is a mental and physical condition that generally occurs during the menstrual cycle, specifically in the luteal phase. Mood Swing is an indicator that someone is experiencing PMS. Objective : The aim of this research is to determine the description and relationship between psycho-emotional adolescent girls and the menstrual cycle. Research Method : This research was conducted using analytical methods with a cross sectional research design. Sampling was carried out using a questionnaire collection technique which was filled in by the respondents. The results of the research was carried out by univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. Result : A relationship was found between the menstrual cycle and the level of mood swings among young women at Al-Azhar High School Medan (p<0.05). The majority of young women have mood swings behavior as many as 34 respondents (49.3%). The characteristics of adolescent girls in this research were found to be the most aged 17 (36.2%) with the majority of the sample being grade 12 (59.4%) and it was found that adolescent girls with good lifestyles were 52 respondents (75.4%) and the majority of adolescent girls had good level of knowledge (91.3 %). Conclusion: There is a relationship between psychoemotional adolescent girls and the menstrual cycle of adolescent girls at Al-Azhar High School Medan
