dc.description.abstractWork motivation is a stimulus or power which comes from the inner self of an individual or an environment to behave in her work. A nurse’s performance constitutes a priority issue in providing qualified nursing care for patients and institutions. The performance of nurse practitioners can be seen from the quality of the nursing process provided to patients. The objective of this research is to analyze the correlation of work motivation and nurses’s performance in providing health care ath the Central General Hospital (RSUP) H. Adam Malik, Medan. The research uses quantitative research method with descriptive correlational design. It is conducted at the RSUP H. Adam Malik, Medan. The population is all nurse practitioners in the inpatient wards, and 148 of the are used as the samples taken by using simple random sampling technique. The result of the research shows that 96.6% of the respondents have high work motivation, and 100% of the respondents have good work performance. The result of the Spearman Rho test shows that r-value = 0.164 and p-value = 0.047 (p<0.005) which indicate that there is significant correlation of work motivation and nurses’ performance in providing nursing care. It is recommended that the next researchers be focused on identifying the most dominant factor of motivation which affects nurses’ performance in providing nursing care.en_US
